An Indian-American woman living in Texas, United States of America, has been accused of killing her 10-year-old son.
She later allegedly dumped his body in a bathtub at her house, from where police authorities recovered it, covered by a cloth and surrounded by plastic bags. Frisco police authorities disclosed that Pallavi Dhawan, 38, admitted to killing her 10-year-old son Arnav at their suburban Dallas home last Wednesday. However, her lawyer has refuted the legitimacy of the confession.
The incident came to light when Pallavi’s husband Sumeet Dhawan, who had returned from a three-week business trip, called police after finding his wife missing on Wednesday night. Dhawan had also received an e-mail from the boy’s school Isbell Elementary, stating that the 5th grader had been absent for several days.
Pallavi returned at around 6.30pm, but police had already arrived. After Sumeet got upset during a private conversation with his wife, he directed the police team towards the locked bathroom.
Policemen forced open the door and found the child’s body covered in a sheet up to his neck in the bathtub. The police did not reveal the condition of the body or what was in the plastic bags. “When officers asked her if she killed the child, and Pallavi nodded her head to indicate ‘yes’,” Frisco police Sergeant Brad Merritt told mediapersons.
However, Pallavi’s lawyer David Finn has called her alleged admission “fiction”. “We deny that she indicated in any way or form that she was responsible for his death,” he said.Arnav was “the centre of their universe. He was a happy, fun-loving boy,” he added.Pallavi has been charged with murder and has been held in the Frisco City Jail on $50,000 bond.
