Industrial Area makes a dirty picture

City Beautiful’s Industrial Area makes a dirty picture with heaps of garbage dumped in open spaces, and plastic thrown all over.

The area’s cleaning has been outsourced to a private contractor whose duties entail clearing the roads and collecting garbage for disposal. However, with safai karamcharis being irregular, the work is not carried out effectively.

Phase 1 has been divided into four zones, and about 80 safai karamcharis have been deployed for the area. In spite of this, garbage disposal is, at best, a weekly affair here.

Plastic waste is thrown on the road, garbage is left to pile up on roadsides and even slush removed from sewers has been left to smell in the open.

Land owners also don’t seem to care for their plots which have dense wild growth. Few have even been turned into dumping yards.

In addition, construction debris has also been dumped along roads and open spaces. The inner roads area also marred by choked ‘gullies’ and heaps of garbage.
