An open house debate was organised by local industrialists where each of the city’s four poll candidates — Congress MP Pawan Bansal, Gul Panag (Aam Aadmi Party), Jannat Jahan (Bahujan Samaj Party) and Kirron Kher (BJP) — were called every 20 minutes to express their views on various topics.
Chandigarh Industrial Association chief MPS Chawla said the candidates were also apprised of the issues being faced by industrialists, including the one on getting land on freehold basis.
The other issue highlighted was lowering the penalty of 500 per square foot a month on norm violations to 10. The industrialists said after the polls the new MP should also be made a member of the Chandigarh master plan approval committee. All candidates promised to speed up development in the city.
