The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Friday complained to Election Commission of India (EC) against some senior officials working in the office of the Haryana chief electoral officer (CEO), who it alleged had been dilly-dallying over the complaints lodged by the party to buy crucial time for the ruling party.

In his letter to EC, the INLD national general secretary, RS Chaudhry alleged that one of such officials was Maheshwar Sharma, HCS, additional chief electoral officer, who was favouring the government.

Levelling a similar allegation against another official, Gulshan Kumar Gandhi, deputy chief electoral officer, Chaudhry alleged that it was strange that Gandhi was allowed extension after retirement so as to work during this crucial phase of election.

He urged the EC to get Sharma transferred and Gandhi’s extension be terminated with immediate effect.
