The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Wednesday said it was unfortunate that the Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) had stopped probing into land deals and licences given to private real estate companies and colonisers in Haryana.
Stating that it was CAG that had exposed scams such as 2G spectrum and Coalgate, INLD state president Ashok Arora said it was shocking to note that the CAG had asked the Haryana principal auditor general to stop the probe despite several controversial land deals being inked in the state.
"If all land deals are clean and there are no irregularities in the cases of change of land use (CLU), why is the government afraid of getting them probed into?" he asked.
Arora alleged that the CAG's move to stop the said probe also put a question mark on its impartial and fair functioning and tended to send a message to people that CAG, too, functioned on the instructions of the government.
