A day after the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) announced the first list of candidates for several assembly segments, Satpal Chauhan, senior INLD leader and a member of party's executive committee, announced to quit the party and joined the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) on Sunday.

He was annoyed with the INLD for not fielding him from Rai assembly segment of Sonepat district. The INLD had declared Inderjit Dahiya as party nominee from Rai.

Training guns at the INLD, Chauhan said party supremo Om Prakash Chautala had distributed tickets in an autocratic manner without assessing the ground situation on the basis of merits and demerits of candidates.

Reposing his faith in HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, Chauhan said he had full faith in Bishnoi's leadership and senior leader Dharampal Singh Malik.

Notably, his father Jaswant Chauhan was a cabinet minister in the Bhajan Lal government and had represented Rai constituency as a Congress legislator.
