The Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University (HPAU), Palampur, has set up its own institutional media production unit, created at a cost of `51.70 lakh.
The media unit, aimed at providing hands-on- training on collection, developing audio-video and other information material at university level, was inaugurated by HPAU vice-chancellor Dr KK Katoch.
Earlier, the three radio stations and Doordarshan Kendra at the state capital, Shimla would invite the university scientists for agriculture related programmes, which was time consuming.
“Now, efforts will be made to invite radio and television teams to the university, for production of audio-video programmes, that will save time of the scientists and also be convenient to the recording staff to finish the job in single go,” said Katoch.
He also congratulated Promila Kanwar for getting the institutional media facility sanctioned from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under experiential learning project for entrepreneurship.
The facility will also train students for enterprises in the areas of digital media production and preparation of information material.
He informed that the university was also exploring the possibility to connect its headquarters with remote stations at Sangla in Kinnaur district and Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti, through video- conferencing facility.
“Gradually this facility will be extended to all Krishi Vigyan Kendras and research stations,” added Katoch.
