"Though it has won the bid (for the restaurant space), so far no agreement has been signed. So, it is illegal occupation. We will send a team to see the violations as there are alterations in the structure," said Vandana Disodia, estate officer, HUDA.
Only a cafeteria could run at the place, as per the terms and conditions; but even in the signboard says there's a bar. People who are running the restaurant have applied for a licence for bar too, but it has not been granted yet.
Documents seized by the police so far revealed that for the New Year eve, sanction for liquor was granted till midnight by the deputy excise taxation officer for a fee of Rs 1,500 on December 23. It is to be seen how this permission was given at a public park.
Another term says that the "licensee shall not carry addition/alteration in the premises without prior written permission from the licenser (HUDA)". But, it has been enclosed with glass, the entrance changed and major alterations made otherwise too.
Sandeep Chauhan, who runs the restaurant, remained unavailable for comment.
