‘IT’ is still hot

Information Technologyenabled-Services (ITeS) are a major chunk of the Indian economy today. With many qualified people being an important part of this industry, there is a surge in the number of IT companies and the growth potential of the entire sector is immense. India is one of the fastest-growing IT services markets in the world.

Thanks to the vast amount of opportunities available within the IT sector, a number of youngsters hope to make a career in the field.

According to data released by the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP), the computer software and hardware sector attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 59,381.64 crore ($ 9.89 billion) between April 2000 and February 2014.

The IT industry has many of f-shoots like business process outsourcing (BPO), engineering and research development, software and hardware services, products, etc.

Multinationals and Indian companies also operate in the market, ensuring that the Indian IT sector has girth and size to match global peers. Companies that deal with products focus on developing software, websites, servers and mobile apps, etc.


Apart from engineering in software and computer sciences, there are other courses. One can also pursue BCA/MCA or a diploma in computer applications.


Apart from software and IT engineers, developers and programmers, the information technology sector also has scope for many other professionals, including managers, animators, sales and marketing experts, business development executives, content creators, human resource executives, backend officials and so on.

The job prospects are endless since all businesses and sectors now need IT help. The mobile Engineers from private institutes can expect at least Rs 20,000 per month. Those from IITs are paid much more.

In BPOs also, good packages are offered , based on experience and expertise.
