An Italian couple adopted a six-year-old girl from Swami Ganga Nand Bhuri Waley International Foundation, Talwandi Dham, near here on Sunday. The clerics of the foundation handed over the girl to her new parents after completing all legal formalities.
The girl, along with her sister, was abandoned by her parents, four years ago. They were living at the orphanage being run by the foundation for the past four years. But, her sister was adopted by an American couple a few months ago.
According to the foundation clerics, the police had tried to trace their biological parents, but had failed. Following this, they initiated the procedure of the child adoption.
Foundation secretary Kuldeep Singh Mann said, “The couple has no child. They have contacted foundation for adoption of a child. The man runs his own business, while his wife is a health worker. After completing all formalities the couple will ferry the girl with them this week.”
