J&K cabinet orders major reshuffle in police department

Jammu and Kashmir state cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of chief minister Omar Abdullah last evening, ordered a major reshuffle in the police department.

Jammu and Kashmir state cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of chief minister Omar Abdullah last evening, ordered a major reshuffle in the police department.

As per the order, 81 top ranked police officers, including the inspectors general of police, deputy inspectors general of police, senior superintendents of police and superintendents of police were reshuffled from their present place of postings.

IGP Sheikh Owais Ahmad has been posted as IGP, technical services on full time basis, IGP Hemant Kumar Lohia has been posted as director, SSG, J&K.

DIG JP Singh has been transferred and posted as new DIG Jammu-Kathua Range. He replaced Farooq Khan, who has been promoted as IGP and posted as director, Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.

Director general of police Kuldeep Khoda has also been transferred and 71 deputy superintendents of police have been adjusted.
