Jagatpura to get new bridge worth Rs 3 crore, says DCSOME

The local deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu on Wednesday stated that construction of a new bridge worth Rs 3 crore, over the drain near Jagatpura village in SAS Nagar, will begin in November.

The old bridge on the choe at Jagatpura village, which links a part of the village to the other half and 25 other villages in the sub-division, was damaged, a fortnight ago, causing inconvenience to thousands of villagers coming to Chandigarh and other nearby areas.

Sidhu, who visited the site said, “The new bridge will be constructed at the same location. The high-level bridge will also be wider as compared to the old one and the construction work will be completed within eight months, which will facilitate easy approach of traffic towards Jagatpura village.”

The deputy commissioner also directed the public works department (PWD) officials to ensure complete stoppage of vehicular traffic from this bridge and to start the construction work at the earliest.

Sidhu said for the time being to facilitate the people a causeway had been constructed near the bridge. He directed the officials to start construction work for the new bridge at the earliest so that the traffic could move easily.
