International drug lord Jagdish Singh Bhola and his aides Sarabjeet Singh alias Saba and Jagjeet Singh Chahal were produced in a court here on Tuesday in connection with a case registered at the Banur police station on June 15 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The court extended the police remand of the trio till November 23.
Three were produced before duty magistrate Ashish Saaldi amid tight security. The police sought 10 days' remand for further investigation into Bhola's international connections, but the request was turned down by the duty magistrate, who sent Bhola and his aides to police remand till November 23.
Bhola's father Balshinder Singh, who was present in the court, said, "My son is innocent. He is a victim of politics. The drugs which the police showed were not recovered from my son," he alleged.
Chahal's advocate Vikram Chowdhary said the former had all the licences and approvals for preparing the drugs which were recovered by the police from his factory.
Saba's counsel IPS Kohli told the court that Saba's health was not good and he needed immediate medical care. Saba is a history-sheeter wanted in many cases of kidnapping and extortion in Punjab and Haryana.
