Former member parliament and BJP leader Satya Pal Jain urged Panjab University (PU) vice-chancellor Arun Grover to hold an independent enquiry into the allegations of irregularities levelled by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Panjab University students in the Panjab University Campus Students Council elections and take appropriate action against the guilty.

In a letter written to the V-C, here on Sunday, Jain also attached a copy of the memorandum which has already been submitted by the students to the vice-chancellor. Jain said the allegations put by the students about the violations of Lyngdoh Committee norms are serious and need to be enquired into by holding an independent enquiry.

A delegation of the Joint Action Committee of PU consisting of representatives of various students' organisations such as Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU), Panjab University Student Union (PUSU), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), met Jain here on Sunday, and gave him a copy of the memorandum urging him to take up the matter with the university authorities.
