The Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress for raking up the issue of union finance minister Arun Jaitley being critical of Punjab over fiscal matters, saying Jaitley had in fact assured the state of considering its case for a financial package after submission of report of the 14th Finance Commission.

In a statement here, SAD treasurer and chief parliamentary secretary NK Sharma said the Congress was raising a hue and cry only to divert the public attention from the projects which the Modi government sanctioned for the state in 100 days of its governance.

He said the Modi government had sanctioned IIM Jalandhar, Smart City Amritsar, mega food park at Fazilka, 2,000 megawatt solar power project, 10 lakh tonnes of coal for thermal plants and other projects worth over Rs 8,000 crore that included four-laning of roads.

He said the Congress had gone berserk seeing these projects and was now resorting to a misinformation campaign only to divert the attention of the public from the development works and was trying to create a wedge between the alliance partners SAD and BJP.
