Young actor Japtej Singh or better known as the cinematic young Milkha Singh, is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming film and this time in a Punjabi film- Mitti Na Pharol Jogiya. In Ludhiana recently, with his co-stars Kartar Cheema, Amann Grewal and several others, the confident actor spoke to HT about the role in the film among other things.

“I play the role of Jagga Singh, a naughty, adamant yet a very sensitive child who one day comes to know that his real sister is left in Pakistan during the partition and he illegally crosses the border to meet her,” said Singh about his film which will release worldwide on May 8. On being asked about how he manages to juggle his academics and his filmy career at such a young age, he shared, “My school principal, teachers and even the film makers have always played an efficient role in this scenario. Thankfully, I have always managed to get leave from the school for any film shooting or promotional tours and at the same time offered extra classes whenever required.” He further added, “On the other hand, filmmakers tried to shoot most of my scenes during my holidays so that my academics did not suffer. This really helps but if there is any holiday homework, I try completing on the film set.”

A student of Mohali’s Yadavindra Public School, Singh, who is now in his 10th grade spoke about his relatively low score in Class 9. “While I managed to score only 55%, but I also managed to make a mark in acting. How can every child score above 90%?” said Singh who also plans to take admission in the National School of Drama after he completes his Class 12. Interestingly, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra who directed Bhag Milkha Bhag (BMB) who has already seen Japtej’s new film was all praise for the actor. “In any of my future subjects, if the film demands a boy like him, he will be my maiden choice. Out of everyone, he exceeded my expectations the most in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,” said Mehra.
