A swashbuckling double century by Jaskaranvir Singh (205) helped Chandigarh snatch an exciting 20-run victory over Mohali with three balls to spare in the Punjab Inter-District Under-19 One-Day Limited Overs Cricket tournament at the GMSSS in Sector 26 here Wednesday.
Mohali replied with 315 all out in 49.3 overs. Batting first after winning the toss, Chandigarh got off to a scintillating start as their openers Jaskaranvir Singh and Shivam Bhambri blasted 239 runs in 225 balls for the opening stand. Shivam Bhambri was the first to go after a brilliant knock of 84 off 113 balls studded with 10 boundaries.
Jaskaranvir Singh went on to tear the hapless Mohali attack as he notched up a double century (205) of just 147 deliveries. His innings was embellished with 22 hit boundaries to all parts of the ground and five towering sixes. Chandigarh innings ended at 335 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. Gurpreet (2 for 66) was the most successful bowler for Mohali.
Replying Mohali made a valiant effort to chase the huge total set up by Chandigarh.
They finally ended 20 short of the Chandigarh total getting bowled out for 315 off 49.3 overs. Their innings was sustained by Abhijeet Garg 55 off 59 balls with 5 boundaries, Inderpreet 42 off 65 balls with 4 boundaries.
Subeer Hayer 28 off 27 balls with 4 boundaries and their skipper Maninder Singh 81 off just 51 balls inclusive of 9 boundaries and one six.
