Jeweller found injured in car near NH dies at PGI

A New Delhi-based jeweller, who was found critically injured with a bullet wound on his temple under suspicious circumstances near Karnal on Thursday, died at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Friday.

Prima facie the police are taking it as a suicide case but clarified that they were investigating the crime from various angles. A pistol was recovered from the car and the victim, Sanjeev Bhasin (42), was found unconscious on the driver seat of his BMW car parked near National Highway 1 here on Thursday evening.

Bhasin, a resident of Ramesh Nagar locality, and found in a pool of blood in his car that was found locked. The police had to smash the car panes to take Bhasin out.

The incident had taken place near Karan Lake, about 10 km from the town. Bhasin was rushed to Chandigarh after first aid at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College.
