He would steal the two-wheeler of his choice, ride it till the fuel ran out, then leave it at the nearest parking lot. Then, repeat.

A resident of Sector 22, Rakesh Kumar alias Rinka was nabbed at a checkpoint in from Dadumajra on Wednesday after he failed to produce the documents of the scooter he was riding. The UT police claimed to have recovered 10 stolen two-wheelers kept in parking lots across town by the 35-year-old autorickshaw driver.

Not only was the scooter found to have been stolen from Sector 22 on June 6, but the police said he disclosed during interrogation about the other stolen vehicles too. It is alleged that Rinka stole vehicles for the "fun of it", not for selling them off, said the cops. Recovered vehicles are six motorcycles and four scooters.

Five cases have been registered against him at Sector-17 police station for thefts in the past few years.
