Hundreds of students on Wednesday blocked the road and disrupted the vehicular movement demanding action against the cop and the non-teaching staff of University of Jammu following student-police clash in the campus.
At least 15 students were injured and three detained by the police yesterday during a clash that erupted after an alleged misbehaviour of an official with one of the students in police action.
Demanding action against the erring police officer who ordered lathi charge on students the protestors blocked the road and disrupted the regular traffic for hours.
Meanwhile the vice-chancellor University of Jammu MPS Ishar later intervened and held separate meetings with the protesting students and the non-teaching staff of the institution.
Addressing the agitating scholars prof Ishar assured action after verifying the incident and also assured the non-teaching staff the issue would be tabled before the Jammu University council meeting following which they called off the strike.
Meanwhile the vice-chancellor sought 15 days time from the students to resolve the crisis and said that the matter would be discussed with the police administration.
The students however submitted a signed application to the head of the institution seeking immediate suspension of the cops.
