June 21 historic day for country: Kaptan Singh Solanki

Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on Tuesday said with an aim to promote brotherhood and peace in the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presented a proposal in the United Nations Organisation (UNO) regarding global celebration of yoga. He added that the initiative was supported by as many as 177 countries, including 47 Muslim countries.

Solanki was speaking on the concluding day of the two-day Yoga Prashikshan Shivir organised jointly by the Haryana AYUSH department and sports and youth affairs department at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3, Panchkula.

Talking about the infrastructural development, he said it was not possible without the development of human resource. “An individual will be able to face any challenge if he is physically fit, which is possible only if one adopts yoga in life,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Manohar Lal described yoga as an ancient system. He added his government had prepared a scheme for imparting yoga training right up to the block level, under which students had also been included. “Yoga and vyayam shalas are being opened in the state,” he said.

Ramdev assured the MC of full cooperation in promotion of yoga in the state. He added that due to global warming, the number of incurable diseases had been increasing. “In such conditions, yoga can prove to be beneficial,” he added.

Health minister Anil Vij said as many as 177 countries would be observing International Yoga Day from 7am to 7:35am on June 21. Describing it as a historical event for the country, Vij said the state government had prepared a roadmap for the successful organisation of the mega event.

He added volunteers of Patanjali Yogpeeth were imparting yoga trainings to about 2,100 people by visiting villages in 58 sub-divisions and blocks. Besides, students in about 6,500 villages and towns were also being imparted yoga training.
