The action has been initiated after a departmental probe conducted on the directions of the minister, a spokesman said here.
It was found that medicine kits purchased for 'anganwari centres of Ludhiana, Mansa, Sangrur, Muktsar, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib districts were of low quality. On the basis of the probe, Naresh Kumar (Muktsar district programme officer), and Rakesh Walia (posted at Faridkot) have been chargesheeted for these anomalies.
Bathinda district programme officer Jagmel Singh, and another officer, Avtar Kaur, have been chargesheeted for purchasing low-quality medicine kits for Muktsar and Sangrur districts, respectively.
Hoshiarpur district programme officer Sumandeep Kaur and Barnala district programme officer Amarjit Kaur have been chargesheeted for lapse of funds to the tune of Rs 89.22 lakh and Rs 40.68 lakh, respectively, for the year 2013-14.
