Tricity-based NGO Koshish under its president, BJP leader Ranjana Shahi, held a protest opposite DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, demanding justice in the Jyoti muder case.

"People are outraged by the system in which a young girl was exploited by the rich and is conveniently disposed of when she becomes 'inconvenient'. Despite sufficient evidence in the case, they guilty went unpunished. This is a fight against those who think women can simply be used and thrown: this is a fight against those who think they can exploit women and get away with it," said Shahi. She said the NGO would mobilise public opinion to pressure the system into delivering justice.

"Even though Jyoti has been killed, they cannot quell our voices. We will fight till Jyoti gets justice," said Shahi.

Jyoti was found dead on November 22, 2012 in Sector 21, Panchkula in a pool of blood with her head crushed. Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary, who had been accused in the case, was acquitted on September 11 after the court stated the police could establish sufficient evidence.
