The annual general body meeting of the PCS (EB) Officers' Association on Saturday unanimously elected Harjit Singh Kandhola as president of the association and gave him the mandate to choose his team.
The meeting of the association, which took place in the UT Guest House here, was attended by about 100 PCS officers from across Punjab and Chandigarh.
Taking part in deliberations, the officers put on record the problems being faced by them and asked the executive body of the association to work aggressively to ensure better service conditions for its members. The members apprised the body that they were working in tough conditions with meager resources available to them. There was dearth of suitable accommodation, vehicles as well as staff. Many officers, while working on sensitive posts, do not get security staff. Officers also raised issues related to their long pending issues related to finalisation of seniority, their timely placement in higher scales and in-service training of PCS officers.
The association was of unanimous view that PCS (EB), being the prestigious cadre of the state government, should be given its due privilege by the government. Considering the viewpoints put across by various officers, Kandhola assured the members that all the demands raised by them would be included in their demand charter which would be taken up with the government at the earliest.
