In less than three weeks of joining the Congress, Kharar leader Arjun Kansal joined back the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday.
He had joined the Congress on March 31 at the residence of Congress candidate from the Anandpur Sahib constituency Ambika Soni.
Kansal was welcomed back to the party by Punjab education minister Sikander Singh Maluka at his residence in Kansal village of SAS Nagar.
Kansal, in a press release, stated that he took the decision to join the SAD because of the fact that the Congress was dominated by the rich in which the ordinary people had no place.
Interestingly, Kansal contested 2009 assembly elections from Kharar on the BSP ticket and secured 23,000 votes, but later joined the SAD.
Maluka said with Kansal joining the party, the SAD would get further strengthened in the Kharar area. He said with the Congress leaders making beeline to the Akali Dal, it was evident that the Congress was getting wiped out in Punjab.
