Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) on Tuesday put boulders back in place blocking the under construction road connecting Kharar with Zirakpur.
The move comes following a Hindustan Times report on December 29, which showed how the road was being used by the commuters even though some work was yet to be completed. A high tension electricity pole in the middle of the road was not relocated and the pole without diversion signage was posing a threat to commuters-’lives.
Apart from this, the road also lacked reflectors and signages.
“The road is not complete so it could not have been opened for public use so we have ordered that to ensure public safety the road has to be closed.
To make sure that no vehicle plies on the road we have put boulders”, said Sukhjit Pal Singh additional chief administrator (ACA) GMADA.
Earlier, huge concrete slabs were placed on the Kharar end of the road, but were later removed.
