Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday said that protection of senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka was his responsibility.

Hooda was who was here to inaugurate field hostel complex of Haryana Urban Development Authority, said " I had already told chief secretary of Haryana to provide security to Khemka, if he receives any threat calls" adding that it is their responsibility.

Khemka's lawyer Anupam Gupta, who is a senior advocate at the Punjab and Haryana high court, had earlier alleged that the IAS officer was receiving threat calls.

Khemka had recently ordered the cancellation of mutation of 3.5 acre in Gurgaon belonging to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra while working as Inspector-General of Registration and Director General Land Consolidation. He was then transferred as Managing Director of Haryana Seeds Development Corporation (HSDC).

On October 30, a call was received by telephone operator at HSDC office on landline threatning Khemka. The operator said the caller used abusive language and issued a threat. She then informed senior officers after which a complaint was given at a police station in Sector-5.

A FIR has already been registered in the matter under section 506 (for criminal intimidation) and section 509 (for using words intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). ACP (headquarters) Virender Sangwan is inquiring into the case.
