Former IPS officer and civil society activist Kiran Bedi has been invited by Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday next week, for her active role in controlling drug menace in Punjab. The state government has already started active campaign against drug menace. Bedi told HT over telephone that he received invitation from the CM who wants her to play a big role in the home state.

"All stake holders including police, NGOs, civil society, narcotics control bureau, jail authorities, border agencies, victims, their families and media need to be involved.

I am writing to the Punjab government particularly the chief minister Badal to bring all of them on a common platform when we meet next week," she adds.

Bedi told Ht that she really wanted to work for her home state which is suffering these days.

"Apart from breaking the supply chain of drug distribution, we need to prevent it from further expanding, need treatment of the victims, need to rehabilitate victims and their families, so it has to be a massive exercise," she adds.
