With member of Parliament (MP) Kirron Kher in town, city residents are making a beeline for a meeting with her to list their ‘problems’.
Her close associates told Hindustan Times that Kher was meeting more than a dozen delegations everyday at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sector 33 from 11 am till late afternoon.
On Monday, Kher met delegations from Shia Samaj, Dhanas; a delegation of professors from Panjab University and group of lab technicians from the PEC University of Technology, while 14 meetings were scheduled for Tuesday.
Right from the pre-elections days, Congress had been targeting Kher and often claiming that she would not stay in the city as she lived in Mumbai with her family. In the past three months, after she was elected, she has hardly been in Chandigarh and was busy with her film assignments, which her associates claimed were signed before she jumped into electoral fray.
For a couple of weeks she was in Delhi also for the Lok Sabha session and returned to Chandigarh last week only.
“Now, she will be here and would hear grievances of the locals on daily basis. At least for next one and a half month, there is no scheduled programme outside Chandigarh,” an associate said.
