Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday did not say with finality whether Kulwant Singh will be accepted back into SAD or not. He also clarified that there was nothing like Sukhbir vs Kulwant and that no one knew what future held.
The deputy CM was in SAS Nagar to inaugurate the golf range at Sector 65. Kulwant Singh, who contested MP elections on a SAD ticket from Fatehgarh Sahib, contested independently in recent SAS Nagar MC elections after his group members were not given tickets by the party.
SAD observer Mahesh Inder Grewal had then made a statement that rebel Kulwant had been thrown out of the party. However, deputy CM did not make any statement corroborating the rebel tag.
When questioned if Kulwant will be taken back into the party, deputy CM gave no direct answer to the same. Talking to HT, he said, “Kulwant has contested against us and as of now, he is not in the party.”
“If people find nothing to talk they put my name there. From my side, there is nothing like Sukhbir vs Kulwant,” he said.
Commenting on whether the party will get a majority to elect the mayor, he said, “We are already 23 and will get another three to form majority to elect the mayor.” The deputy CM later met the golf club members and the newly elected councillors.
Talking about development issues, the deputy CM said, “SAS Nagar will be developed as model for other cities to follow. International airport will be made operational within next six months.”
