A 45-year-old Burail resident, Raju, ended his life by jumping into a well in the village on Wednesday, as he was reportedly depressed over the bad health of his son. The body of the labourer was noticed by some children passing by the well near a 'mazaar' (tomb) in the afternoon, and they informed the police. Raju is survived by his wife and three children, the youngest son (9) being mentally unsound.

Police said the post-mortem examination would be conducted on Thursday. No suicide note was found from the spot, so the police initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CrPC.
