Ladakh region, which remained cut off by road for six winter months with the rest of the state, got three more modern post offices.
Chief Post Master General (PMG), Jammu and Kashmir, John Samuel dedicated these post offices at Mulbekh in border district of Kargil and Khaltsi and Saspol in Leh to people.
A spokesman of the PMG said here on Saturday that Ladakh region, having 109 post offices has a large postal network connecting most of the villages and towns.
J&K postal circle has developed a detailed plan to develop the postal services in Ladakh region consisting of Leh and Kargil district. As a part of this development plan, three post offices were modernised.
John said that these offices were fully computerised and networked to provide modern services to the people of these areas.
Each post office has also been provided with post shop facilities with packaging materials, philately services, financial services etc. Further, all these post offices will come under 'Sampoorna Bachat Yojana' scheme.
Chief PMG announced that postal services in Ladakh have been strengthened to ensure that during the winter season, the local people can get their parcels through post office in an efficient manner.
