The Punjab government has invited landowners to offer their land for mining across the state.
"The state government has provided this facility to landowners under clause 6 of the Punjab Minor Mineral Rules, 2013, that would prove to be a major boon for the farmer community as well as the state and the construction industry," a spokesman for the industries department said here.
The landowners can apply to bring their land under the mining activity for sand and gravel till June 25 on a prescribed form and submit the same to the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM)-cum-sub-divisional mining officer concerned or general manager-cum-mining officer, department of industries and commerce office, with relevant documents.
The industries department would select the mining area on the basis of the applications as per government guidelines, the spokesman said.
The state government is already facing litigations pertaining to illegal mining in the Punjab and Haryana high court.
