The Punjab government on Wednesday extended the date for submitting applications for Joint Entrance Test (JET) examination to be conducted by Punjab State Technical Education and Industrial Training Board to April 25.
Earlier, the last date for submitting applications was April 2.
Technical education minister Anil Joshi said that the decision to extend the date had been taken due to good response to the examination. Up to April 2, more than 81,000 applications had been received, of which more than 45,000 were of students from rural areas.
After matriculation, 29 diploma courses are on offer in 129 government and non-government polytechnics with a total of 60,000 seats.
The Minister said that in order to facilitate the rural students, the JET examination centres would be set up at block level instead of district headquarters.
He said the application fee for JET examination had reduced to Rs 50 from Rs 1,200.
