Lawlessness is on the rise in Panchkula going by the crimes taking place on daily basis. Close on the heels of an elderly woman robbed off her gold banlges, two youths attacked a person with knife and fled away with his diamond ring on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Sector 10. The victim, Gaurav Singla, 28, a resident of Sector 15, here, was in his car, when two youths on a motorcycle came from behind and signalled him to stop. No sooner had Singla alighted from the car, one of the youths held his hand and the other hit him with a knife on arm. The attackers snatched Singla's diamond ring and fled, leaving the knife behind.

Singla couldn't note down the registration number of the bike as the accused covered it with a cloth. Singla informed his family members and then the police. Sector 14 station house office reached the spot, along with forensic experts. The police have prepared a sketch of one of the accused on the basis information provided by the victim. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
