Amarpreet was shot dead outside his house by a group of youths on February 27 after he had object to their parking a car outside his house. Of the nine persons named in the FIR, only three accused -Jaswinder Singh, Sunbir Singh and Omkar Singh- have been arrested and are in police remand.
While Jaswinder is the son of an SGPC member from Ludhiana, Sunbir Singh is the son of a stakeholder of Alpha Mall in Amritsar. On Tuesday, the police produced the accused before a court and sought the extension of their police remand. The police are yet to arrest the other six accused who have been absconding. They are: Sunil Bhanot alias Chhoti of Sector 45, Chandigarh; Rajat of Burail, Dharminder Singh from Ludhiana, Deepak Kaushal of Phase 3A, Kevin Sushant alias Richi of Kharar and Vishal from Delhi.
