A rooftop cafeteria designed by French-architect Le Corbusier at the Punjab and Haryana high court would be opened for lawyers by August.

UT adviser Vijay Kumar Dev, who was at the high court to open a library lawn for lawyers, said the cafeteria could not be made operational till now due to some unforeseen reasons but now the administration had decided to make it functional from the next month.

Bar association president Harpreet Singh Brar said the necessary permissions from the high court administration for opening the café have been taken. Currently the Bar association and the UT administration are working on the final details of the rooftop cafeteria's infrastructure after which it would be opened.

Lawyers submit charter

During the adviser's visit, lawyers' body also submitted a demand charter for a group housing society for lawyers in the city along with the allotment of chambers, extension of parking facility and installation of CCTVs at the high court's multi-level car parking. Dev said the Bar and the UT administration would work in tandem to look over the demands put forth by the lawyers and carry out the required steps.
