The morning flights at the city airport remained disrupted due to the heavy fog on Friday. The airport officials informed the visibility was less than a kilometer that resulted in delay of flights.
The morning flight of the SpiceJet to Delhi that departs at 10:25am, departed at 2:25 pm. Another Indigo flight to Mumbai was delayed by about two hours and instead of its scheduled time of departure at 12:20pm, it departed at 1:36pm.
Some other flights were delayed by about half-an-hour. The airlines officials said no prior information about the delay could be given to the passengers as delay or no delay, they said, depended upon the visibility on a particular day.
When asked about the rumours of threats by the terrorist organisation, Indian Mujahideen (IM), about hijacking the flight, the officials said they had no official information on that front.
Talking to Hindustan Times, airport director HS Toor said, “Though we have no official information as such but security at the airport has already been beefed up.”
