Letter to Sonia: cheating case registered

The police have registered a case of cheating against unidentified persons for sending a letter to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi by forging the signature of sitting Congress councillor, highlighting the controversial pasts of local party leaders.

The case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by sitting Congress councillor Harphool Chander Kalyan, who alleged that someone sent the letter to the party president after forging his signature.

The letter had a mention of the alleged controversial past of the Congress leaders, including two former mayors, a former deputy mayor, a former councillor and a Congress general secretary.

Acting on the complaint, a case of cheating by impersonation, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, forgery of valuable security, will, etc, forgery for purpose of cheating and using as genuine a forged document or electronic record under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 11 police station. Police are investigating the case.
