Lower room rents, food rates at Mountview on the cards

With an aim to put a check on falling revenue of Hotel Mountview, the board of directors of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) has decided to reduce room rental and other rates.

The board held a meeting at the hotel on Tuesday.In the first four months of the current financial year, the corporation sustained a loss of `76 lakh as against `8 lakh during the corresponding period last year. The hotel's loss increased from `1.4 crore to `1.85 crore in the first four months as compared to the same period last year.

Giving details, Bhawna Garg, managing director, CITCO, said the main focus was to reduce the rates of rooms and food to increase the footfall at the hotel.

The board also stressed upon reshuffling the staff deployed at the hotel for the past several years. The issue of ever increasing salary expenditure of all units was also discussed in the meeting. As per the official figures, the salary expense of CITCO is much higher than the industry norms of 30%.
