Late-night lawlessness continues in the city. On late Wednesday night, a man was attacked and injured by a group of youths who ran away with his wife's purse.

The fight was triggered outside Tao Discotheque and Lounge in Sector 26 when, around 2.30am on the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday, four young men in a Honda City misbehaved with a woman and later allegedly snatched her purse.

The woman, Harveen Kaur, and her husband Tarandeep Singh had come to the city from Ludhiana to attend a wedding and chose to go to the nightclub, said station house officer (SHO) Sri Prakash.

As they came out from the club around 2am, Harveen sat in the car while her husband Tarandeep went to ease himself. Just then, the four men made some lewd comments and then snatched her purse. Tarandeep rushed to her rescue and chased down the youths to Sector 17, where they beat him up. They even hurled a brick at his car and broke the windowpane.

Acting on the complaint by Tarandeep, the police have registered a case of causing hurt and of theft. The SHO said he received the complaint around 4 am. The police are going through the CCTV footage at the Sector-17 traffic light point where the fight took place.
