A Ludhiana woman has moved the Punjab and Haryana high court, alleging threat to life from managing director (MD), Fastway, Gurdeep Singh, with whom she was allegedly in a relation. The woman has claimed that she met Gurdeep in 2008 and they married in 2009, but did not go public with the relation.
The woman claimed that Gurdeep induced her into marriage saying that his wife was suffering from a life-threatening disease. She claimed that during their relationship for more than five years, she was repeatedly forced to undergo abortion. Recently, as she told Gurdeep to stay away and let her be free of the relationship, the victim and her family were allegedly abused and threatened with dire consequences, she has submitted before the court, seeking protection.
Acting on her petition, the high court, besides issuing notice to Gurdeep, has also issued notices to the Punjab government, director general of police and top police officials in Ludhiana and fixed April 20 as the next date of hearing.
She has alleged that recently, she was implicated in a police case at the behest of Gurdeep’s wife and when she approached the police with a complaint, it was not looked into. In her petition, she claimed that Gurdeep was politically connected and the local police’s ‘inaction’ into her complaints showed that they were acting at his behest.
