Major reshuffle in Punjab Police, districts get new chiefs

The Punjab government on Wednesday effected a major reshuffle in the state police, posting new SSPs and transferring senior officers in the top brass.

Sangrur SSP Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu is the new Faridkot district police chief. He replaces Charanjit Singh Sharma, who has now been posted as the Moga SSP.

Mandeep Singh is the new SSP of Mansa, while Dhanpreet Kaur has been posted as the Hoshiarpur SSP in place of Rajdeep Singh, who has been posted with the Punjab Armed Police, Jalandhar.

RK Bakshi is the new SSP of Pathankot in place of Rakesh Kaushal, who will be the new commandant at Police Recruit Training Centre at Jahan Khelan, Hoshiarpur.

Rajinder Singh, who was deputy commissioner of police (DCP) at the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, goes as the Kapurthala SSP, replacing Ashish Chaudhary.

Harpreet Singh is the new SSP of Patiala, while Narendra Bhargava has been posted as the DCP of the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate.

Moga SSP Jatinder Khaira will now be the Fatehgarh Sahib district police chief.

Batala SSP Inderbir Singh has been posted as the assistant inspector general (AIG) in the personnel department at Chandigarh.


Among senior police officials transferred on Wednesday, Gaurav Yadav has been posted as inspector general (IG), police headquarters, whereas Arpit Shukla has been given the assignment of IG, security.

Parmod Ban, who was the commissioner of police in Ludhiana, has been replaced by Paramraj Umranangal.

Ishwar Chandar, the IG, border range, has been posted as IG, Bathinda range.

Lok Nath Angra, the IG of Jalandhar range, has now been posted as IG, border range. BK Bawa replaces Angra as IG, Jalandhar.

Additional director general of police (ADGP), law and order, Dinkar Gupta, is the new ADGP, welfare, while CSR Reddy has been posted as ADGP, provisional and modernisation. VK Bhawra is the new ADGP, information technology.

AK Mittal is the new deputy inspector general (DIG), Ludhiana range, while KV Partap heads as DIG, border range.

Arunpal Singh has been posted as DIG, Jalandhar.
