Punjab education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka on Monday conducted surprise checking in various schools of Bathinda, Barnala, Sangrur, and Ajitgarh districts.
The minister had series of meetings with the district education authorities and instructed them to strictly ensure the cleanliness in the schools besides ensuring teachers attendance.
An education department spokesperson said the minister conducted surprise checking in Salabatpura (Bathinda) Government High School Cheema-Jodhpur and Senior Secondary School, Dhanola (Barnala), Senior Secondary School Phaguwala (Sangrur) and Government High School Ladran(Ajitgarh).
Maluka monitored the attendance of the teachers and cleanliness in the school premises during the checking. Besides enquiring about the problems and grievances of the teachers, he persuaded them to become role model for the students and make efforts to uplift the education standards in government schools.
He also stressed on the need of health and hygiene of the students and exhorted the students to plant more and more plants to preserve the environment for better future.
