Even as the opposition Congress took a dig at the Akali-BJP regime for "forgetting" Punjab Day on Friday, education minister Sikander Singh Maluka announced the revocation of suspension pending inquiry of his department's employees to mark the occasion.
"The Punjab government has given a big relief to the employees who were under suspension for two or more months," the minister said, while announcing the revocation of their suspension in a statement here.
"This relaxation is given on the occasion of New Punjab Divas and Diwali," he added.
Maluka said action against employees would be taken as per the outcome of various ongoing inquiries.
The decision to revoke suspension has come as a breather for Mohali district education officer Vinod Kumar and director, public instruction, Pritpal Kaur Sidhu, both accused in the book scam and for dubious procurement of science lab kits.
