A heinous crime has come to light in Panchkula where a 45-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his daughter for years.
As per the 19-year-old victim's statement, his father had raped her first about eight years ago. At that time, she did not have any knowledge of the gravity of the crime. Her mother was sleeping at that time. She claimed that her father told her not to tell about the incident to anyone.
After this, the accused, who is a mason and a resident of Sector 20, allegedly used to rape her every month or two months whenever his wife went outside home for work.
The victim told the police that in the past three-four years she got conscious of the crime but could not tell anyone as she was afraid. She alleged that her father had told her not reveal it to anyone otherwise he would kill her. She also alleged that he used to beat her up too.
The sexual assault on her allegedly continued in all these years, as she claimed and last time she was raped three months ago when she was alone at home. Though she was threatened not to reveal about it, she complained about it to her mother. Her mother then allegedly abused her father.
She further alleged that two-three days ago, her father allegedly tried to rape her again, but she escaped. She again complained to her mother.
The girl also shared the incident with a woman (whose identity has not been revealed) who further informed the police.
On this tip-off, the police reached the victim's house on Friday night. Sub-inspector Neha Chauhan, along with advocates Shailendar Kaur and Manbir Singh Rathi of district legal services authority, met the victim and recorded her statement.
A case for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, rape by a person who is in a position of trust or authority towards the victim and persistent sexual assault was registered against the accused late in the night.
"We arrested the accused on Saturday. The girl's medical has been got conducted. Her statement under section 164 of the CrPC has also been got recorded before a magistrate where she confirmed the allegations," said the station house officer of the Sector-20 police station, inspector Pradeep Kumar.
