Police have booked a 24-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing a 12-year-old girl for the past two years. The accused is unemployed and has been identified as Neeraj Kumar and is a resident of Raipur Khurd village in Chandigarh. The police said the victim, a Class-8 student, had complained that the accused had been touching her inappropriately whenever she was alone. She claimed to have been threatened if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

Last month, the accused allegedly forcibly entered into her house and attempted to sexually assault her.

Finally, the victim narrated the incident to her parents, who finally approached the police and acting on the complaint, the accused has been arrested.

A case has been registered under Section 354-A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act at the Industrial Area police station. The accused has been produced in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
