Man booked for passing casteist remarks

A Bapu Dham Colony resident has been booked for allegedly passing casteist remarks at a girl, police here said on Tuesday.

The accused, Parveen Bansal of Bapu Dham Colony, has been booked under Section 3 of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and for criminal intimidation under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 26 police station. He has been arrested.

 In a separate incident, a woman alleged that a man passed lewd remarks at her on Monday. Sector 26 police have registered a case under sections 354 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, though the accused is yet to be identified.

In another incident, a woman alleged that some persons beat her up and threatened her with an intention to outrage her modesty near Sector 31 on Monday. Sector 31 police have registered a case of causing hurt, offensive sexual behavior and criminal intimidation.

Two women residents have alleged that their in-laws tortured them for dowry. In the first incident, police have booked one Ajay Chabra, a resident of New Delhi, for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry.

In the second incident, police have booked one Sanjay Ahlawat and his mother, both residents of Chandigarh, for allegedly demanding dowry from Sanjay's wife.  The police have registered separate cases of dowry harassment under sections 406, 498A of the IPC.
