The suspect, identified as Rakesh Kumar of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, has been booked under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc) 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.

The suspect was nabbed after he had come to renew his passport. The District Transport Officer (DTO) Anil Kumar Garg sounded the police after he found no record of Kumar’s driving licence at the office.

Kumar, meanwhile, claimed that he had secured his licence through and agent 10 years ago.
