Police have booked a daily wage labourer for allegedly raping his daughter, after the 17-year-old victim told her school principal that she had been sexually abused by him for over five years.

One of the girl’s cousins has also been booked.

ASP (South) Urvija Goel said that the victim had narrated her tale to her mother first, and approached the principal.

Goel said the girl gave a written statement to her principal and it was the principal who called the police and the social welfare department. She added that the victim’s statement had been recorded and she was taken for medical examination to GMSH, Sector 16. After her medical examination, the victim would be sent to a child care centre, she added.

Sources in the police said the girl had also alleged that her father had got her abortion conducted twice. Talking to HT over the phone, the father denied all allegations.

A senior police official said they had to register a case as she had given a written complaint to her principal, but during investigation, the girl was changing her statement frequently. The father and the cousin have been booked under Section 376 (rape) and Section 6 of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.
